search the forum somebody asked the same question a few days ago. Basically get the new objects for SP1 and merge the ones that are modified. Get the new client. and install it.

Ok, after we have "merged" the objects between 4.0 and 4.0 SP1, we export the new objects.fob into 4.0 SP1 client, do we have to do Data Conversion after that point?
I remember running Upgrade370400.1.fob and Upgrade370400.2.fob when upgrading from 3.7 to 4.0, do we have to do these steps for 4.0 SP1? If so, where do we find Upgrade370400.1 and Upgrade370400.2
    for upgrading to 4.0 SP1?

I don't believe you have to do the "full" upgrade procedures when going from 4.0 to 4.0 SP1. All you need to do is "merge" the objects, then you're done.

I don't know if anybody is following this, but SP2 is comming out in April first. so if you can wait another fews weeks, you can merge SP2 and SP1 all at the same time.

Excellent. Is there anything that must be done to the table data before importing the newly merged .fob file?

if you've merged it correctly. and didn't drop any fields, or didn't changed the field data type, then no you don't to do anything to the table data.

In the other case you'll have to:
    - create temp tables
    - write scripts to export the data to temp tables and empty the fields in current table
    - import .txt (araxis can't create .fob)
    - ...
