NAV Simple Text
NAV Simple Text allows a BLOB (Binary Large Object) to be edited as text directly on Card type Pages in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Role-Tailored Client.

A. Installation Instructions - Server/Database Instructions
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This step has to be performed in each database the add-in will be used in.

1. Open the Database
2. Open the Object Designer
3. Locate Table 2000000069 - Client Add-in
4. Create a new record as such:
Control Add-In Name: NAVSimpleText
Public Key Token: 5c30d668d092d1b6
Description: NAV Simple Text
5. Close the table.

B. Installation Instructions - Client Instructions
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This step has to be performed on each machine the add-in will be used on.

1. Copy the enclosed NAVSimpleText.dll to a new Folder named "NAVSimpleText" located in:

64-bit operating systems:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\RoleTailored Client\Add-ins\

32 bit operating systems:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\RoleTailored Client\Add-ins\

Or wherever you have NAV RTC installed.

C. Developer Use Instructions
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This step has to be performed on each Card Page the control is needed.

1. Add a Field to the Card for the BLOB, using the BLOB as the SourceExpr.
2. Open the Properties for the Field.
3. Set the Property "ControlAddIn" to: NAVSimpleText;PublicKeyToken=5c30d668d092d1b6
4. Save and close the Page

D. Additional Information
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
While Right-Click Menu may be unavailable, all the standard Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V shortcuts are still operational.

Navigation controls, such as arrows, home, end, ctrl-home, ctrl-end, all work as you'd expect.

However, Enter & Tab keys, sadly, do both bow to the RTC controls, so you have to use Shift-Enter for new lines and spaces for Tabs.

Word-wrapping is not turned on.

Any other existing solutions for editing BLOB text data should be fine to mix with use of this Add-In. No special data is embedded into the text.

Control add-in can be used on a FactBox, but I've had mixed success with that, as if can get pretty funky looking, size-wise.

Demonstration objects are included that modify the ORDER PROCESSOR role center to add a couple of demo pages.

This Add-In is free to use in any end-user implementation or ISV solution. The link to the "About NAV Simple Text" must remain present. A non-branded version can be purchased from Small Square Services.
