Multi-Tenancy

I've been reading thru the information on multi-tenancy and there's one question I can't seem to find information on:

Can a multi-tenancy solution be deployed across multiple SQL Server instances? Or does it all need to be on the same instance?

Server Instance is a property of the Service Tier, not of the Tenant.

As far as I know, it should be on one SQL Server instance.

But it is also a property of the "Tenant.Config" file. Which makes me think the tenant could be on a different SQL Server instance. But I can't find documentation to confirm or deny this.

Interesting. I wonder where the app database is when you put the tenants in other instances.

Let me loop in someone from Microsoft.

I think the APP database is determined by the NST and that the Tenant.Config file determines the tenants that are mounted to that NST.

Got an answer from Morten, yes you can spread tenants accross multiple SQL instances.

There you go, how cool is that. 8)
