Background image on the report

I am trying to put png file as a background image on the report (Rectangle Properties -> Fill -> Background Image -> Import).
When I put file with 300 dpi (size 2550x3000), it is to big and only small part of the image is shown on the report. I have to resize file to 96 dpi to size 735x952 to fit the whole image to the report. But in this case the quality of the image is not good enough. Is there any workaround? Is it possible to scale a background image somehow?

    What happens if you convert the Image to JPG instead of PNG?

    Have you ever tried to convert the Image to JPG instead of PNG? Does it help?
