Hi Experts,

I want to pass the cside solution dev exam. I follow the guidelines of the MS Elearning portail (see list of topics below).
But some of those topics are not that clear for me.

See my inline comments:

Quote:
Skills Being Measured
This exam measures your ability to accomplish the technical tasks listed below.
The percentages indicate the relative weight of each major topic area on the exam.

    •Document Standards (Header-Line)
    •Posting Standards for Codeunits
    •Design and use of FlowFields
•Metadata -> is this about the Object Metadata table or something different?
    •Report Design
•Documentation -> Hum? Please provide explanation because there's not that much to say about documentation... Except if it is about building 'Help' content ??

    C/AL Programming – 19%
•Design and use of Record variables
    •Use of C/AL intrinsic functions
•Design and use of programmer defined functions
•Programming with complex datatypes other than records

    Solution Implementation – 22%
    •Working with Journals
•Reporting -> in what is it different from report design?

    Integration – 20%
    •CFRONT
    •Microsoft Dynamics NAV ODBC
    •Automation
    •XMLPorts

    Special Topics – 18%
•RTC (RoleTailored Client) -> architecture? Customizations or something else?
    •Using the Debugger
    •Object Import/Merge/Export
    •Upgrading
    •Multilanguage functionality

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Solution Design is, granted kind of obvious, about what you need to / should do to build a solution. The first exam is more in depth about the programming aspects of it. If those are the only things you have questions about, you should be fine.

You don't need to know how to build help for the Help menu. You do need to know how to properly name tables and forms. You do need to know the basics of reporting and the RTC.

Thanks for your reply :)

If others want to share their experiences with the exam (not the questions uh! :p) feel free to do so.

I just hope this table of content reflects the reality of the exam.

The "Table Standards" are more about the standard tables in NAV itself: e.g. what kind of table corresponds with what kind of object/structure in NAV. How to name posting tables and such.

The Reporting is about what you would report instead of how you would make reports.
