Report 1002 - Posting date problem

In version 4,02 the user could set the posting date of the G/L entries created from this report. In version 6.10 it is not possible.
My customer is dissatisfied with this change and wants to customize this to be like in the old version.
Has anyone here done a change that allows the user to change the posting date in the report for all the entries to be posted on ?

If you make the modification on this process to allow overriding of posting date, your G/L account will not match your inventory valuation per date.
Explain to your client how this process works and why their request does not make sense.
