Has anyone had the issue where you buy/sell an item that is actually made up of more than one physical box in the warehouse?

What do you mean by handling, what process is it you wish to control ?

    a) is it an item that arrives in a pallet then broke into boxes then broken down to be sold as a piece etc

    or

b)Its a kit so to speak in that you order an item like a PC package and its monitor etc arrive in component pieces?

and what are you trying to do with it IE if it is a package you could have a kit ZONE and then component BINs that way an item is recieved but components in a zone or location so everything is at least grouped.

I am looking for a solution to this issue as well, where we purchase a single item, that arrives and ships out in multiple boxes. We are running NAV 2009 Classis, with Lanham's E-Ship. Our problem is obtaining an accurate freight estimate through Rate Shop, as well as how the warehouse should handle packing this item through Pack Line Scanning.

We are not currently using kitting, and would prefer to not create additional component items for the 'extra' packages. Currently we are manually calculating the total 'billable' weight of all packages (Using Dim or Net weight for each, whichever is greater), as this will most likely ship via a Parcel carrier (UPS or FE). We are then entering that as the Net Weight of the item. This doesn't help with the package count for Rate Shopping, but it will at least use the correct total weight.

    Thanks.
