I have a scenario where planned purchase orders need to be generated for the normal sales warehouse only irrespective of the attached main warehouse in warehouse master.
In my trial runs AX generates planned purchase order for the main warehouse and planned transfer order to transfer from main warehouse to sales warehouse.

For this scenario : In AX 2009 , solution is provided in user manual for master planning “ AX2009_ENUS_MP_04.pdf ” page number 7 as “By selecting Never in the Refilling list field in the Item coverage form, the user can specify that the item dimension SW on these items triggers the creation of a planned purchase order to the vendor, instead of the usual planned transfer order from MW “

But interestingly this field is not visible in item coverage form of AX 2009 as mentioned in user manual. On analysis it’s found this fields are present in item coverage form in AX 2004 but deleted from AX 2009 item coverage forms. Still the fields exists in the “reqitemtable” .

Have some one ever faced this issue, if so please share how it was resolved.

So why not set the item coverage of the item to have a planned order of purchase order on the sales warehouse rather than transfer order?
