So I am sure everyone has heard the news....

http://lsretail.com/HOME/tabid/198/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/1040/language/en-US/LS-Retails-Industry-Solution-for-Microsoft-Dynamics-AX-Acquired-by-Microsoft.aspx

But does anyone out there understand what this is all about? I had always been told that the AX backend was basically a ported version of the NAV backend, but not as mature. So how do they buy one (AX) without the other (Navision).

So my real question I guess (and I suppose that the AX forum maybe is not the right place for this) is what does this mean for LS Retail in Navision. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft will recommend clients to go with the Navision solution when they have their own product for AX, so will this mean new prospects being pushed the AX route, and in that case doesn't that mean that LS Retail just killed the product they kept?I am very confused, and any input would be much appreciated.

MS is doing a lot of things that doesn't make sense for NAV.

I think it's a good idea that they didn't purchase LS Retail for NAV. The code quality is bad and they break a lot of standard nav practices.

MS has all along been pushing clients to purchase AX.
